The Saratoga Springs Lions Club is pleased to announce it is expanding the it’s scholarship offerings to high school seniors graduating this spring:
2024:
- $10,000 Saratoga Springs Lions Club Foundation – Jack Berkowitz Memorial Scholarship- Presented to the Most Outstanding Applicant for the $5,000 academic scholarships for those students planning to attend a four-year accredited institution. ($2,500 per yr) #jackberkowitz
- $5,000 academic scholarships for those students planning to attend a four-year accredited institution. ($1250.00 per year) #fouryear
- $5,000 academic scholarships for those students planning to attend a four-year accredited institution. ($1250.00 per year) #fouryear
- $2,500 academic scholarships for those students planning to attend a four-year accredited institution. ($625.00 per year) #fouryear
- $2,500 academic scholarships for students planning to attend a two- year accredited institution. ($1250 per year) #twoyear
- $2,500 Vocational/Technical Education scholarship for students planning to attend an accredited or licensed post High School program. #Vocational
- $2,500 scholarships to Leo Club members. #Leo’s
Qualifications for the Lions Club scholarship are of the broadest nature. Each year graduating high school students having a resident address within the Saratoga Springs City School District will have equal opportunity to qualify, including students from Saratoga Springs High School, Saratoga Central Catholic High School, The Waldorf School and Home Instructed Students are eligible to qualify and apply.
These scholarships will be awarded to students attending a two or four-year accredited institution, or professional / vocational school. The scholarship will be available to the recipient in installments after the successful completion of the first semester of each year. Scholarship, awardees must complete at least 12 credit hours per semester, meeting graduation requirements each semester and striving for a minimal GPA of 3.0.
An up-to-date transcript presented to the Lions Club will serve as proof of qualifying achievement. The Berkowitz Scholarship will be awarded to the most outstanding applicant. The Leo scholarship is available to applicants with at least two years membership in the Saratoga Springs High School Leos Club.
The student’s high school academic record is only one criteria of evaluation. The Lions Club requires a transcript completed through the fall of the senior year. Additional areas, as shown on the applications will have added value during the selection process.
SPECIAL ATTENTION WILL BE GIVEN TO THE QUALITY OF THE ESSAY BASED ON THE LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL MOTTO: ”WE SERVE”. APPLICANTS SHOULD DESCRIBE ANY EXPERIENCES THEY HAVE HAD HELPING OTHERS AND/OR SERVING THEIR SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY.
To be considered, all applicants must include:
- A transcript complete through the fall semester of the senior year.
- At least Two letters of recommendation from faculty or community leaders
- A resume of school and community activities,
- An essay on The Lions Club: motto,: “We Serve”.

April 15, 2024.
